Privacy Policy
Effective TBD · Last updated TBD
This policy explains what TBD ("Southern Breakers," "we" or "us") collects when you visit this website, call or text us, or send us the contact form, and what we do with it. The short version: we use your details to answer you, make you an offer, and pick up and pay for your material. We never sell your information.
What we collect
From the contact form: Your name, company if you give it, phone number, email if you give it, the city and state where the material is, what you have, your description of it, any photos you attach, and how you'd like us to reach you.
From texts and calls: Your phone number and anything you send us, including photos of equipment and nameplates.
From your visit: Basic visit counts from our website host and Google Analytics: which pages are visited, how long visits last, where visitors came from, the type of device, and a rough location. We don't use it to identify you by name.
Note: We don't ask for bank or card numbers on this website. Please don't send them through the form or by text. If we pay you by wire or ACH, we'll collect those details directly, not here.
How we use it
- To answer your questions
- To look at what you have and make you an offer
- To schedule pickup, containers and shipping
- To pay you
- To keep records of what we buy, including records the law requires for scrap metal purchases
- To keep this website working and improve it
- To meet legal and tax requirements
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your information. We share it only when we need to:
Service providers: Companies that run things for us, like website hosting, the contact form, email, phone service and analytics. They can use your information only to provide that service to us.
Pickup and hauling: If someone else helps move your material or drop a container, we share only what they need, like the location and a contact number.
When the law requires it: Florida requires buyers of certain scrap metals to keep seller records and make them available to law enforcement on request. We follow that law. We also share information when legally required, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
If the business changes hands: If Southern Breakers is sold or merged, your information may go to the new owner, who must follow this policy.
Texts and calls
When you call or text us, your number and anything you send reach us through our phone provider. We use them only to talk with you about your material. We don't send marketing texts. If you'd rather we stop texting, tell us and we will.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses our host's built-in visitor counts and Google Analytics to see which pages are useful. Those tools may set small files called cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and the site will still work. Google's own policy covers how it handles analytics data.
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. This website doesn't respond to those signals in a special way, because there's no common standard for them.
How long we keep it
We keep your details as long as we need them to answer you, finish a purchase and keep normal business, tax and scrap-purchase records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will, unless we have to keep it for legal or tax reasons.
Your choices
You can ask what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Call, text or email us using the details below.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, like limiting who can see it and using secure connections. No website or phone system is perfectly secure, so please don't send anything sensitive through the form or by text.
Children
This website is for businesses and adults selling electrical equipment. It isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Other websites
This site links to other sites, like our Google, Facebook and Yelp pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
